For a taste of the kawaii-life, Hyper Japan festival oozes culture, creativity and of course- vivid cuteness!
Spanning three days, the excitement begins at Olympia Stadium, London where all the adventures commenced! Tearing through the crowd of jubilant cosplayers and fashionistas, the event brings visitors of all ages and all background to celebrate what we love about Japan.
So running in order of our journey, we started at the Nintendo stall which sprouted a generous collection of video games including Monster Hunter Generations, Zelda, Mario Kart and plenty more to fill the pot including Pokémon, and we couldn’t help but find a few Pokémon dotting around our journey too!
The stage served a platter of thrilling performances from Azumi Inoue and Yuyu giving us all a nostalgic buzz over the Studio Ghibli themes. You can imagine we were all jumping, skipping and sugar dancing our way through the crowd – seriously the atmosphere brings the whole event to life!
As well as the performers and gamer havens, Hyper Japan also hosts a world of incredible fashion, gadgets, food and sake!
We waltzed through the scene to find a delicious range of goodies like green tea Kit-Kat which is a lot nicer than you think and melon bread- if you haven’t tried melon bread, boy howdy are you in for a taste sensation!
You can imagine a stall full of squishy goodies from Tofu Cute, to the fabulous collection of quirky accessories from OffendMyEyes. Cat lovers can unite under the Fuzzballs stall where I fell in love with my new unicorn-kitty inspired t-shirt!
But that’s not all, adults can raise a toast to the Sake Festival, children can get their hands on a number of workshops thus re-creating the elegance of Japanese art from lantern making to origami and much, much more.
Alas the day drew to an end – for anyone looking for a weekend of adventure be sure to grab your tickets for next year’s event. If you can’t until then, Hyper Japan Christmas is a few months away so keep checking for your chance to dive into the spellbinding cultural sensation of Hyper Japan.
